best cheerleading ever

Blue raspberry cotton candy bubble gum. Yummmmmm. Food of the deities.

Last night was fecken off tha hook, yo. I don't think I've had that much fun at a show we've cheered at before, ever. The club was amazing. So hard to describe, but like a circus fun house sideshow garden of delights. Lots of shrines with knick nacks and tchotchkes and toys and life-sized pirate statues and tons of crazy crap on the walls. Benches of red naugahyde. Big TV screen showing old Bowie videos, Iggy Pop live and also nudie reels. It was the perfect environment for our little cheer squad freak show.

The crowd was so cool, so responsive. Chanting along, responses to our calls, smiling and applause. It's waay too bad that they wouldn't let us videotape. I am also kicking myself for not recording the audio, but then again I don't think we've ever had a crowd be that responsive before, that vocal. They were very receptive to our new madman mascot as well.

J., our cheer mom, totally put the cherry on top when she presented A. and I with our own copies of "The Cheerleaders". Our new mascot has yet to see the flick, but we will soon put an end to that.

The bands were great, super friendly (and drunk) and lots of fun. We were called up to dance onstage for a couple of the bands, including the headliner who was soooo drunk that he had to have friends on stage to actually hold/prop him up. He fell down several times, hard -- and actually stumbled back into A. while we were gathering our stuff together at the side of the stage.

I could go on and on and on. I am amazingly alert for only getting about 4 hours of sleep. Too much caffeine, taurine in this not-normally-caffeinated body o' mine. Yep, last night was very similar to the Bart and Milhouse squishy binge...I can't wait to see the pictures...

last - next
